We finally get a Takeover not attached to a major PPV, but the card is not super inspiring.
NXT Title Match: Champion Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami
SHOULD AND WILL: Bobby Roode retains. I really want to like Hideo Itami, but other than a finisher that CM Punk took and made famous in America, what is he bringing to the table? Not enough to take the belt off Roode, who has plenty of face challengers to beat this year.
NXT Women’s Title Match: Champion Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross
SHOULD/WILL: Asuka retains. The only person who should end Asuka's reign and undefeated streak is Ember Moon, and since Ember Moon is injured, the only options are hotshotting the title onto Ruby Riot, which would be a mistake, or putting the belt on Cross by having her pin Riot and call Asuka up to the main roster unpinned and dominant. Which would mean Smackdown. And I don't think that's in the cards.
NXT Tag Team Title Ladder Match: Champions The Authors of Pain vs. DIY
SHOULD: The stipulation favors DIY and they could get the titles back while keeping the Authors strong.
WILL: THe company is higher on the Authors than they probably should be, plus, there are rumors on the wind. Authors retain.
WWE UK Title Match: Champion Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne
SHOULD/WILL: Tyler Bate retains. I can't imagine they're going to do any UK title switches until the UK TV show starts and they're filming in the UK with a UK audience who actually gives a shit. Should be fun though.
Eric Young vs. Roderick Strong
SHOULD: Strong defeats Young to avoid being caught in the Dillinger Trap, feuding endlessly with Sanity for months without winning.
WILL: Sanity interferes and helps Young win and Strong ends up in the Dillinger Trap for months.
