ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Brandon Cutler!

This one’s a bit of a journey.First, the backstory, because even though I’ve brought it up twice before you should not remember it because you’re not me and it’ snot important.

Jazwares, who makes AEW figures, includes “chase” figures in their case packs with a limited run of usually 3,000 or 5,000 figures. Normally, these figures are color variations, like the white pants Kyle Fletcher I got by accident last month. BUT.

Three times, they pulled a new character from a main line and sold them as a chase figure. First it was The Bunny, then it was Alex Reynolds, and finally, Brandon Cutlerr. And it sucked, because the only options were getting lucky, buying a case, or going to the aftermarket.

Over time, I did manage, through diligient auction site watching, manage to get a Bunny and an Alex Reynolds for what I believe to be reasonabl, if not ideal, prices. But Cutler eluded me. For the last six months or so you’d see one of them every six weeks or so, and he’d be $60-$80. No thank you.

And then, a few weeks ago, something weird happened. A flood of Cutlers started showing up on eBay. Six to ten new listings A DAY. Most of them were hovering around the $40 mark. I assumed they were somehow knockoffs, even though I couldn’t figure out WHY someone would make knockoffs of AEW Unmatched Chase Figure Brandon Cutler.

And it kept going. And the prices started creeping down. And they finally reached a point where even if it was a knockoff, I didn’t care. I wan’t gonna be reselling it. As long as it didn’t fall apart in my hands I was good. So I ordered one. And chatting about it on Bluesky, I learned they weren’t knockoffs. A ton of them had started showing up at Ross, which is an overstock store that we don’t really have in the TWin Cities.

So yeah, I got Cutler for essentially list price.

And, as expected, he’s fun! He has the wacky sweatsuit, he hs the cold spray can, he has the camera around his neck, and he has the “I broke my nose” face shield. I don’t know if the shield comes all the way off or not yet. It moves, but I’m hesiteant to push it until I know it’s supposed to.

Anyway, the pic is a classic Cutler moment from this era, spraying FTR with cold spray to set up a superkick party from the Bucks.
