WET BOYS ALWAYS SHINE!So it was Ship The March Pile Of Loot time, which means it was time to grab that retro-card Cobra Eel I needed to complete (for now) the GI Joe Wet Boys - Ketchup Diver, Mustard Diver, Torpedo, Wet Suit, Cobra Eel, and the impending Hydro-Viper. The only ones I’m skipping are the non-retro Cobra Eel (don’t need essentially duplicates) and the 60th Anniversary Action Sailor (fuck the generics except for the Firefighter).
Again, these divers are essentially the Taco Bell Menu of figs - lots of mix and match of mostly similar parts - but this one’s in nice gray and black with a bit of red, the backpack has propeller thingies on it, and it rounds out the collection nicely.
He’s the one leaping out of the water at the big show, of course. Ketchup Diver had to be shot carefully because, well, his backpack peg is hanging by a thread and I may need multiple forms of gluing to make sure he still has an air tank going forward.
This was a fun pic to assemble, starting with a hi-res pic of, I believe, a dolphin show at Seaworld Australia. I kept the tree Elmo because all my thoughts on replacing it involved bin-digging and I wasn’t in the mood. The dolphins from the original cliff sign also stayed. Moving the spray to the foreground was a bit trickier than I thought it would be but I think it worked out.
