Protoprotostar, more like. The lead time required to make action figures is a real pain in the ass when it comes to wrestling. Case in point, this Kyle Fletcher figure, which is a very transitional look for him, as he started to shift from “guy that was in United Empire” to the pink-clad, mostly bald Protostar. He’s got some pink. He’s got some hair. This is roughly from his run as ROH TV champ in late ‘23 / early ‘24. It’s before his defining look, though, and were it not for the general ambiguity around Jazwares future with AEW figs and AEW figs in general, I’d have passed on him in favor of a future Fletcher.
But that’s unlikely to be a thing, so I got this one in case I can’t get another one. And ended up getting, by chance, the chase version with white pants. Which is fine. White with pink or black with pink makes very little difference to me. He does come with a LOT of custom hands, like Statlander did, which is nice. Try not to pay attention to his one elbow pad that slid up to his wrist without me noticing and no I wasn’t gonna reshoot.
Fletcher’ big move is an avalanche brainbuster off the top rope into the top turnbuckle, and the original plan was gonna be the Gobbledygooker because turkeys and necks and such but I pulled out the bin, saw Bobby “The Brain” heenan, and well, it is a Brain-buster.
In a different world where I had the ring up all the time, I might have tried for something more dynamic with an angle that made it clear Flether hadn’t hit the ground yet, but we don’t live in that world and I’d put a ton of work into the last two, a medium amount of work into the next one, and probably a lot of work into the next one after that while planning a HUGE project for when a very special eBay purchase arrives.
