PREORDERS: Akuma and Cable!

 Now I just need my damn refund.Let’s start with Akuma, because his tale is simple and easy. He’s the latest in Jada Toys’ Street Fighter 1I line, a line that’s 4 figures away from being complete, with two imminent and the last two over the summer.

All Jada Street Fighter figures are awesome, so Akuma is awesome. Two head,s, hands, effects piece and stand, bead necklace, big red hair. I mostly know Akuma from Super Puzzle Fighter but I know him way better than I knowT Hawk and I’m gonna preorder him too.

If Akuma has a flaw it’s that the necklace either can’t lay as flat as I’d like most of the time or I haven’t found its secure position yet. This isn’t uncommon with big necklaces and it’s a minor thing at best. Jada’s engineering is otherwise top of the charts.

Cable. Astute followers of the collection, and who the fuck would do that, will know that this is my second Cable, which is a little weird because, if you’ll pardon the expression, I’ve never been much of a Cable Guy. I potentially want THREE Cables because they made a Deadpool 2 cable but it was an exclusive and I never got it and it’s not hitting my relatively low preferred price when it shows up on eBay.

Anyway, the other Cable was X-Man ‘97 Cable who’s a lot of fun, but who doesn’t look like the Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Cable. Hasbro made that Cable in early ‘25, but I didn’t get him because I wasn’t that into Cable and the Gamerverse shit wouldn’t drop for a few more months. And then in late summer a pre-order for a reissue went up on Si-Fi Toys, a site I’ve gotten a healthy amount of in-stock stuff from in the past. And months passed and the release date kept getting pushed back and then it showed up on BigBad, and I asked Si-Fi if they could provide any more release date clarity and their response was NOPE.

I have been to this rodeo before and it has traditionally ended without me getting the toy. So I bought one from BigBad, threw it in the Pile, and committed to returning it if Si-Fi came through before I shipped the Pile by the end of March. They didn’t, so I cancelled the preorder, shipped the Pile, got the Cable, and am now wondering how much I’m going to have to harass Si-Fi to get my money back. It’s already more than I would have preferred.

ANYHOO, two MvC2 guys in the same Pile mans they’re gonna fight it out. Cable’s team being two other CA guys was not me being clever, it was a quirk of the random team generator I use every time I do an MvC2 pic. Cable himself is slightly above Meets Expectations Hasbro - a couple of guns, a couple of extra hands, but a lot of nice detail and overlays. And a sabertooth tiger leg because it was the Zabu Build A Figure wave.
