Why, yes, I did watch Venture Brothers, why did you ask?Doctor Rand is incredibly versatile and useful .First, he’s a doctor body in a long (longer than this - knee length - the sitting pose required some digital shortening) lab coat. Doctor/scientist types always have a role and they cant all be Egghead or Mr. Fantastic.
Second, he has three heads - one evil one, one that is DEFINITELY NOT BENTON QUEST HOW DARE YOU and a werewolf head. Is it easy for BigBadWorkshop to throw werewolf parts into a box? Yes it is. Do I appreciated it every time? Yes I do.
He also comes with werewolf hands, human hands, and LATEX GLOVE HANDS, seen here, which, again, incredibly useful.
And finally, the accessories - a syringe gun, a more lasery gun, and a white/blue version of THE CANISTERS, previously seen with Dr. Caligary, the greatest accessory of 2025 - an opening case with two canisters that you can pull two partial metal tubes out of that you can pull rows and rows of clear plastic balls out of in a very NOT THE NERVE GAS FROM THE ROCK HOW DARE YOU kind of way.
So, yeah, stellar multitasker toy from Operation Monster Force.
The pic is… elaborate. Coming up with analogues/stand-ins for the Jonny Quest team was varying degrees of difficult. Dogs I got plenty of and went for more of a shape match than a color match. I only have one small boy, the NECA Costume Kid, but the fact that his Batman mask doesn’t come off is in fact very Hank Venture so I don’t mind.
Haji was a challenge. I have a total of THREE figures that’d qualify as South Asian in the collection - Dhalsim, Kingo, and Spider-Man India. Using Dhalsim seemed racist as hell. Using Kingo would have meant finding his normal hands in the Marvel Legends Hands Bag. So I went with Pavitar and then put him on the end so I didn’t have to show all of him.
Race Bannon… red shirt, white hair. I only have one character in a red shirt. I don’t even have a red shirt on a WRESTLER for fuck’s sake. So even though it’s more of a sleeveless half-shirt, Mirage Casey Jones got the nod, along with the Operation Monster Force NOT THUNDERBOLT ROSSS HOW DARE YOU head from The General. But he has a white mustache, so “Race” got shot from the back.
We are working on a Science Canister prop, but it’s not done yet, so instead I grabbed Lightning Collection Zordon and unZordonized it digitally along with a lot of work to give the overlay some highlight and texture.
And of course, a Tiny Ryu to make it complete.
