FINALLY: Mythic Legions Otho 2

Hoo boy, Four Horsemen is runnin’ late.I think Otho was supposed to be Feb. I think a couple things slated for mid-year are now “no really, this year” and something that I considered preordering that was saying Q3 is now sometime in ‘27. The fish people wave was always ‘27 but is probably gonna be late next year unless whatever geopolitical and/or internal factors that are slowing them down resolve themselves.

But hey, having the occasional pre-paid preorder show up during a month when a lot of “pay when it ships” preorders dropping isn’t bad on the ol’ disposable income budget, and Otho was a Day 1 Take My Money preorder, because he’s top to bottom gorgeous.

He has a lot of elements in common with Gideon Heavensbrand and, really, the Mythic Legions “full plate armor with tunic” template, but I do love that template and while I’m not a “gimme all you got” guy I am a “when you make a good one I ain’t mad to have another”.

For stuff, he has the axe, a shield, three heads total, some hands, two swords and scabbards. The swords and scabbards are, if not reuse from Gideon, very close, and he has the same belt loop system that I don’t love on Gideon because the swords and scabbards are fucking massive and they make the single leathery attachment point on the  belt flop around constantly. It’s a damn effort to get them to lay right at all, much less get ‘em to stay secure. But hey, he has an axe!

The heads are great. There’s two helmets and an unhelemeted head. You can swap the face between the two helmets but I’m never gonna use one of the helmets because Otho has awesome  braids that plug into the back of the good helmet or the back of the unhelmeted head and the braids are distinctive and unique and really make the figure shine and stand out.

Pitted him against my one Mythic Legions monster, Tharnog, who is in Official Lore a good orc shaman but if I want an opponent I have three options. Him, lizard-man from Savage Crucible, or a skellington. And he has the staff for (probably not) blocking the downward axe strike.

Tiny Ryu Photobomb returns after a short break! They’re calling it the Where’s Waldo for the modern age.
