My Fifteen Favorite Toy Pics of 2024: #15-#13

Also gonna do the end of year countdown thing for my fifteen favorite pictures I made with toys in this year..  It’s a mix of my favorite ideas, what I think is my best execution, and skill milestones.Three per day. Should just about take me to 2025. Let’s do 15, 14, and 13.

#15: The Danhausen-MJF Convention PIc

I just love the original pic of Danhausen harassing MJF at a con and MJF “pretending to” not be into it so much that I bought a cheap MJF figure just to have a second scarf to make this photo.

I also bought a seecond Excalibur figure as a result of this pic, because, well, trying to get MJF’s head back OFF the Excalibur body I put it on, I cracked the Excalibur neck instead of getting the head off the peg. Whoops.

This is also probably the best-looking composite I ever did with my old weird crappy software, because the only layering is the stuff on the table and Danhausen’s badge. Everything else was practical.

#14: “It’s Morbin’ Time!”

This was one of those moral imperatives. I’d just gotten the Morbius figure that I love so much that, as you’ve seen, it’s making both lists. I had the Power Morphers from the Remastered figures, and I had all the morphing sequence visual elements layered already from my pics of the Remastered rangers. And so the whole Morbin’ Time meme from the Morbius movie came into being.

I did have to try and make a Morbius-specific Power Coin, one of my first real attempts at crafting an element from “scratch” in Affinity Photo 2, heavily modifying some tooth clip art. Still like how it came out.

#13: “Frog-Man Tosses HIss Cookies”

This is from a HUGE series of photos I did to highlight the accessories that came with the Super Action Stuff arcade machines. In this case, the puke. But that’s not why I picked it.

I picked it because this is the pic where I started learning to match the lighting  and shadows in the background pic. It’s rough, but to this day I still use a refined version of this technique. I learned a lot from this vomiting frog.
