My Fifteen Favorite Toy Pics of 2024: #6-#4

Also gonna do the end of year countdown thing for my fifteen favorite pictures I made with toys in this year..  It’s a mix of my favorite ideas, what I think is my best execution, and skill milestones.Three per day. Should just about take me to 2025. The Penultimate Trio!

#6: “All In Finale”

Another re-creation, this time of the ending to the multi-team Trios Championship match at All In that would see the Blackpool Combat Club, soon to become the Death Riders, take the gold. Gold that AEW seems to have forgotten they have, sure, but hey. They’re very busy.

This was an incredibly elaborate setup. I can’t remember if it was one shot or two - I think it was two because there wasn’t quite enough width in the photo box to get every element in. But the belts are legit hanging from the “ceiling”. The only thing really missing, apart from a few of the participants I still don’t have toys of yet, is the lack of a 10’ ladder, forcing me to use a 6’ one. I’ve remedied that  for some future pic.

#5: “Danhausen And The Danhausens”

This pic is peak me. Have a dumb idea, spend a ridiculous amount of time and effort trying to execute it, succeed reasonably well.

I actually have a back cover photo shot and ready to go but I got hung up on coming up with the song list and it’s languished on the back burner for six months. I do want to get it done, though.

#4: “BAMF!”

:This one is my favorite of my early days with Affinity Photo - starting to work more with multiple layers and combining elements and such. In this case, for the purchase pic of X-Men ‘97 Nightcrawler.

This is also where I started figuring out how to make single graphic elements (the smoke) appear to be both behind and in front of other elements (Nightcrawler). In a year that’s been about “figuring out how to get it closer to what’s in my head”, that was a big step.
