I KNOW THIS ISN’T KRANG.Another holiday sale price impulse buy - this NECA Mirage Comics Utron was mainly bought because it matches my broken, wrong mental image I get when I hear “Krang, from the Ninja Turtles”.
“Oh, right, the robot with the little alien in its belly controlling it,” my brain says, and then I go and see a Krang toy or a Krang google image search and see a big mostly naked dude, sometimes with muscles, who is, yes, a robot piloted by a little alien in its belly, but not the kind of robot I’m THINKING it is. A much less visually appealing robot I don’t want a toy of.
So I got this Utron to be my Krang. Hell, I’m pretty sure some stuff I read said that this was a good guy, so it wouldn’t even be fighting the Turtles, but Krang would, so that’s how the pic went. With the logos to make it very clear what was happening.
The figure is nice - I mean, pretty standard quality and engineering for a NECA - good accessories, good sculpt, functional but middling articulation that I usually like better than a Super7 (oh boy is there some Super7 griping coming in about a week), and the comics-stile line work is very nice. Probably could have thrown Casey Jones in this pic too but I kind of wasn’t in the mood to pull out and hook up all his accessories.
