THAT LESS ANNOYING THREE-PACK PART ONE: Spider-Man ‘67!

You see, he’s got radioactive blood.Of the five Comic-Con exclusives I craved, I was able to secure four of them, and the second to arrive is the Marvel Legends Spider-Man ‘67 three-pack based on the old cartoon.

Six legs? Got ‘em. Chest webs? Not supposed to have ‘em. Black web accessories? Hands? 60’s Peter Parker head? Removed mask?  Camera? Got ‘em all. Most of it is stuff from other Spideys, of course. But if you don’t mind re-use it’s a LOT of accessories. Of which I used one for the pic.

The pic is an homage to and exploration of the cartoon’s use of stock foregrounds over stock backgrounds, and also a reflection of my current obsession - the difference between the first 20 episodes, and episodes 21-plus, when Ralph Bakshi took over, the story was soft-rebooted from the original with light continuity, and all the new art was GARISHLY colored and shaded in a way that’s both offputting and fascinating, like a weird embryondic form of the Batman animated series style, awkwardly lurching out of the ocean with a bunch of vestigial shit and seaweed hanging off it.
