The blue bastard giveth, the blue bastard taketh away.So, yeah, I’ve been at… odds with a certain blue-coded retailer of late over exclusives. First there was Omega Red and War Machine, with payment processing hassles and ultimately canceling my preorder and buying it online.
Then there are the Spidey retro card reissues - Sandman and J Jonah Jameson. These are very exciting, because along with an Electro that went up for preorder recently, that’s like half of the retro card Spidey figs I missed before I was really collecting them.
They’ve been part of a new collector-friendly display that seems to have gone up at, as far as I can tell, one local outlet. Which had Sandmans and another thing but no Jamesons. As far as I can tell, either all the Jamesons are already gone or they’re never showing up? I don’t know why sell toy to person who wants to buy toy is such a complicated issue.
Butanyway, Sandman is a straight up reissue, so he doesn’t have some of the modern body updates Hasbro has been doing, and his sand arms/hands are a smidge… fussy. But for an older figure, he’s VERY solid, including an alternate half-sand head, a fist, the spikey ball above, and sand arms pieces that go over the forearm.
Got out the Maximum Spidey for the photo - he’s my go-to Parker unless I need a very specific one for a very specific need.
Fun fact - there was no Sandman appearance in the 90’s cartton, so I took this from the Hydro Man episode.
