OK, Todd. Maybe you don’t need to churn these out quite this fast.I’ve made no secret of my uncharacteristic love of the DC Retro line that started with Batman ‘66, moved through The New Batman Adventures, and is now working through Superfriends. I still feel like the format fits the tacky, low budget nature of the properties they’re doing. BUT.
Superfriends Wave 2 does some weird shit and the weird shit is exemplified the most in these two figures. Specifically the shoulders. All the other figures I have come with just regular ball shoulders on essentially square tosros. Looks fine, has an OK range of motion. Flash and Captain Cold have weird tapered shoulders that extend over the ball joint, and the only purpose they serve is to limit the arm articulation. They don’t improve the aesthetics in any way, and they’re not necessary for Captain Cold’s shoulder deco since it’s just painted on the arm anyway. It’s annoying. Not as annoying as the incredibly limited quantities of Zan and Jayna in Series 3 but that’s another issue.
Otherwise they’re fine. Decent paint, occasionally relevant accessories like Cold’s gun, the little communicators that came with Series 1.
For the pic, I’m pretty happy with how the ice cubes from the knockoff 7 Eleven freezer photographed, the cold ray, and especially how I did Flash’s legs - something I haven’t tried before.
