I wasn’t gonna. But I hadta.I got the Bladck Series reworked Luke and Leia on impulse but they were huge reworks. Plastic clothes instead of bulky soft goods.
I hot the Han Solo rework because I didn’t have an A New Hope Han Solo.
I was gonna pass on Chewie because I had a Chewie who looked like Chewie I didn’t love him, but he was Chewie. And then I saw a video review that showed off the articulation and I threw a late preorder in before the video even finished.
From a movement standpoint, the old Chewie suuuucked. Even if you could get the bowcaster in his hand, a dicey proposition given the shapes and the plastic stiffness involved, he could just barely get it into a very awkward two-hand pose. Not so here. I took some comparison pics of the articulation:
All this adds up to really startling, useful poseability.The Chewie we should have had from the jump. I don’t know what sorcery is going into the new Black Series deep single elbows and knees, but I approve.
Pic’s pretty standard stuff, although I did try a new technique of capturing two frames from the same hallway shot, with different bits of it obscured by characters, and then lining them up and eerasing big chunks for the seamless hallway look. It worked well.
