LONGSTANDING IMPULSE SATISFIED: Figura Obscura Bastet and Anubis

I’ve luster after these two in my heart from the day I first saw them.Technically not these these. This is like the second or third repaint since I first saw the originals go up for preorder fuck knows how long ago.

Back then, the idea of a $70 figure was unthinkable. Back then, a basic Hasbro fig was $20.  Now a Hasbro fig is $30, I’ve started to shift to more quality vs. quantity, and these are still $70. But the money is all there in the details and accessories. They’re a leap and bound even above Mythic Legions, even if they’re very similar in construction and design since they’re from the same company. So, when the most recent color variants went in stock at an online shop, and I was back from vacation with some kind of viral illness that didn’t trip any Covid/flu antigen tests, I decided it was time to indulge.

With the exception of the extra hands and feet, everything that comes with both figures is somewhere in this pic - the canopic jars, the big statues, the staff, the artifacts, all of it, all with the same level of sculpt and paint.

The pic was a ton of work, building the museum “set” with the display cases and pedestals, shooting every element, compositing like crazy, and cleanup and lighting passes. I threw Ardeth Bey in there as a victim because he’s the most Egyptian-themed dude in the collection and I’m still mad at him for sucking.
