Sometimes, this hobby can get complicated. So, I really like Operation Monster Force, and figures from the line occupy a constant place on my Impulse List, because “need” is mostly reserved for actual beloved character. So the impulse list led to me getting both the Crimson Moon and Aerial Assault Sleepwalkers, and they’re great toys (more on that in a bit), BUT.
I live in the Twin Cities, and a whole other set of Nazi-coded motherfuckers are ruining people’s lives here. So first I had to set them aside for a few days, and second, there was no way I was just gonna show these dudes winning anything. So I took a castle and set it on fire so they could run away from it.
This started as a straight up daytime shot of a regular-ass castle. Being able to make the background really look like what I want even though I can’t find it in a reasonably ethical pre-existing format is one of the areas of skill growth I’m really happy with in the last year.
Anyway, psychological impact aside, if you like your toys with a shit ton of interchangeable stuff, get you some Sleepwalkers. It’s all hoses and effects and things you can plug in anywhere. There are ports on the backpacks, ports on the guns, ports on the helmets… even the gas mask filters can be swapped out for other plug-ins or hoses or whatever. More, in fact, than I will ever be compelled to use or need. But it’s nice to have the options, along with hands, heads, and in the case of Aerial Assault, a full set of stuff to make him a goddamned werewolf. Only reason I didn’t do it is that I’ve swapped to OMF necks in the past few weeks and it’s enough of a pain in the ass that I wasn’t gonna do it again.
It’s hella weird that I’ve gone from zero to seven Fresh Monkey Fiction / Monster Force figs in less than six months. Plus five or six more on preorder for sometime in ‘26.
