Oh, I was activated, all right.I had resigned myself to deciding these didn’t exist, back in October. As I may have mentioned before, the Superfriends Wave 3 preorder was a clusterfuck. Aquaman sold out at most retailers within about 90 minutes. Zan even faster. And Jayna was a “Platinum” release, which meant limited numbers and limited retailer availability. Gamestop was supposed to have preorders day of, but those never materialized. A fucking nightmare, by the very loose standards of toys only and October 2025 only.
Then, in December, the White Bastards put up preorders for Jayna. I snagged one, resigning myself, I thought, to haunting eBay for her brother. But then some quick poking around revealed that the Blue Bastards had Zans in stock and shipping. Zan arrived mid-December, but obviously I couldn’t shoot him until Jayna arrived last week.
The power effects were an interesting challenge - I tried three approaches, and only the third one worked. First I tried islolating the rings from a still of a Superfriends episode and autoselecting them, and that… sucked. Then I thought I’d draw them myself, and that also didn’t work for shit. What ended up working was manually selecting a chunk of a single ring from the still, then using that to make full rings, then duplicating and rotating the rings to make three rings, then making THAT 75% transparent to hide how the original was made up of opaque and semi-transparent elements.
The alligator is from GI Joe and I love how expressive he can be. The sad ice bag is from the Teeny Tinies series of shitty plastic accessories sold cheap at Five Below, where most if not all of the food from the various Cold Slither pics also came from.
