One regular, one sorta 16-bitty. You may have to click to see the difference.
Another one from the Impulse List - sometimes the Impulse List includes figures that I like quite a bit, but aren’t essential enough for the price they’re charging. Boss Fight’s Red Sonja ain’t cheap. It’s not a bad VALUE as indie figs go, because it’s comparable in stuff to a Mythic Legions and comparable in articulation to an import, but it ain’t cheap.Three heads, a bunch of hands, essentially almost two sets of armor, a sword, an axe, a dagger. There are two bottom armors, two shoulder armors, a weapons belt, two gold arm bands, two leather leg bands, two different sets of glove tops, a leg bands dagger sheath, and a sword scabbard, and all of them have a lot of paint detail. So you’re getting what you pay for, at least.
I chose to, shall we say, maximize coverage. Because you can absolutely minimize coverage if you’re into that sort of thing but I’m not into that sort of thing. So I loaded her up. Also, the less gooner bottom armors stays in place way better than the skimpier one, lets you peg in the weapons belt, and looks better.
Articulation is great, with smooth double elbows and knees, lots of torso range, etc. The hips can get loose fast, which is also a thing with the Boss Fight skeletons I got. I’m unsure if they’re drop hips or not - it was tough to tell moving them around but they may have a slight drop which makes them looser.
My only real criticism is the fussiness factor., mainly around the scabbard and weapons belt. They’ve integrates places to peg them in into the design, but none of it is very secure or feels very secure. Also all the bands rely (obviously) on friction to stay in place, and so you’ll be fiddling with them a lot as and after you pose.
She also shows up very pale/grey in the shots - I’ve tried to tweak that to better resemble her actual appearance, but that’s… tough. I need to learn how to make things more tan/brown to fix flesh tones.
Anyway, I’ve been thinking Golden Axe because of some other acquisitions (well, one) so I thought I’d dig out the Storm dragon mount I got on sale a few years back and pretend I haven’t lost one of his hands.
