DECEMBER PILE: Yolopark AMK Bumblebee and Starscream

I love these. And I’m very specific when it comes to Trnasformers.First and foremost, I don’t want them to transform. I want them to look like their most interesting mode, which, with the sole exception of the Dinobots, is their robot mode. If I’m gonna leave ‘em like that anyway what good is a mode my blind ass can’t transform anyway?

Second, G1 or GTFO. I like Beast Wars as a story but the designs are just robots with chunks of animals hanging off them.

So, and this is a talke I also told last year, in Spring 2023 I jumpt on a handful of Super7 Ultimates G1 Transformers. Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Grimlock. And they looked great. And they moved for shit. They were 80% statue. Accessories were on point but for posing and photography they were trash.

Last year I discovered the Yolopark AMK “model kits”. G1 characters. Nontransforming. Look great, move great, so easy to assemble I could do it unassisted. Basically a build a figure. I got Optimus and Megatron in a two pack and then waited. Yolopark makes a bunch of stuff - little guys, the Pro series that started the G1 line off which have die cast metal parts and light effects and battle damage and are more than I’m willing to pay. But the AMK’s are perfect.

And then they finally announced the promised Bumblebee and Starscream, and I got them, and I love them.

They’re even lighter on accessories than Optimus and Megatron were - Bumblebee has a gun, Starscream has nothing. But they have all the articulation, Starscream has a removable cockpit and opening chest panels for his missiles, and I still have all those Super7 accessories and the figs are the same size.

So now I need a Soundwave and I’d like a Grimlock and I’d like a Soundwave and I’m willing to see what else they’re interested in offering in this format.

Here’s the squad all together:
