The Ascent Of Fish! The question of “Who is Bryan’s favorite Mythic Legions figure has been answered again, and this time, it isn’t even close. It’s Qoi, the fish man, for days and days and days. He hits all the marks:
- Incredible sculpt and paint
- Impressive, expressive head and neck articulation
- Doesn’t come apart at the waist when you look at it funny (or even if I want it to but that’s another issue)
- Easy to remember name that’s also easy to spell
- Good accessories that mostly don’t overencumber him.
He’s so good. Just an incredible sculpted texture and a paint job to match. Swappable soft back fins for when you do or don’t want the shoulder armor. Alternate armored faceplate. A sword and a spear and a bunch of impeccably painted hands. He’s so close to perfect.
His only actual flaw is the tail, which is just a friction peg when it could have been a ball joint that pops in, and of course Mythic Legions standard elbows and knees, which is a thing you know going int.
Everything else is a wishlist - mainly unarmored forearms and shins and, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but an easier-to-pop waist so I could take the belts and skirts off for a clean fish-man. Also if they wanted to make a bunch of these off the same basic sculpt in different color patterns and faceplates and gear I would probably buy all they’ve got. Just fucking glorious.
He is the ultimate fish-man, and if I were arranging this pic by quality rather than size he wouldn’t be behind King Shark, who is a massive hunk of plastic but I’d forgotten how little he moves.
