Oh, Jada. I am a sucker for your toys.OK, fine, I dipped into the Jada Mascots. I wasn’t gonna, but the whole “what can I get you that you wouldn’t get for yourself” deal kicked in and, well, this falls squarely into that category. I did / will have all three of the cereal ones in due course (long story, ordering mixup and surprise damage) but I’m trying to hold the line and not end up with Chester Cheetah. I… don’t have a lot of confidence in that line holding.
I just fucking love Jada Toys. I love them so much that when they showed Scooby Doo toys at San Diego this year, I was mad because I actively dislike and am sick of Scooby Doo and the figs they showed off looked AMAZING. I want them to get licenses I love and work their magic. I know I’m gonna end up with the damn Cyberpunk Edgerunners toys in a mnonth or so even though I don’t watch that show either.
I will say this - compared to the Street Fighter toys, the Cereal Mascots in general, and Franken Berry in particular, don’t have the insanely useful engineering that I love about Jada. Not even up to the level of Mega Man, who has a more limited size/shape. But also these figs have WILD proportions. Super skinny limbs, giant heads, etc. It’s a challenge, and given the challenge, they did OK. It’s mainly the chunky ratchets in the elbows, hips, and shoulders that do it - the range of motion is pretty normal but the stopping points are reduced.
But goddamn does it look good. Comes with a second head and a cereal box (plastic, not cardboard), which is a little scant but the spare heads are like half the size of the figure and also when you think of Franken Berry, what accessories could there even be? He doesn’t carry knives or a bazooka.
The pic continues my “can I draw my own effects” journey, with electricity that doesn’t look like total ass but also doesn’t necessarily look how I wanted it to look, and the new way I learned to do colored lighting and shading - a refinement of what I was using on the Spider-Verse pics. This did need to be three shots - one for Franken, one for Egghead, and one for the shelf objects - but there’s no way around that with a background like this.
