OK, first off, I am aware that technically this Ultraman doesn’t grow like this.But I didn’t want him fighting monsters because, well, I already did a bunch of photos of the Mezco Ultraman fighting monsters on various Tokyo backgrounds from the show. So I did this instead because honestly I wanted to see if I could get this effect, and I did.
It’s obviously dupes of the same shot. I set them to 50% transparent but also made sure there were no overlapping pixels in any of the four transparent layers because that made it look murky. Then I put a slight motion blur on each of the transparent layers but did a gradient on it so it was less blurred at the top and more at the bottom. Pulled the cable car power lines to the foreground, added a light shadow, and that was basically it.
This is once again where my lighting experiments mostly paid off, I think. I’ve been doing way more with colored lighting and backgrounds to match the background I’ve picked since I got my new fancyish light and it’s been paying off.
