TLBPOLFAW: Zandar

You enjoy GI Joe your way, I’ll enjoy it my way.Zandar was, in fact, a surprise last-minute addition to the January Pile of Loot. I’d thrown a pre-order in on him when I realized I’d become a Dreadnoks completionist but it was a very late pre-order and I knew he’d already started shipping. So I thought the October release date was a “get it on the second round” kind of deal. But nope, he showed up and I got him and that means I’ll probably see him on sale for like 10 bucks in a few months. But when you’re completing sub-collections you don’t get to risk a possible future sale.

Like his sister Zarana, he is SUPER 80’S. Unlike his sister Zarana and, in fact, most Dreadnoks, his accessories are pretty basic. A plain knife, a plain pistol, a plain backpack, a slightly interesting knife, and what looks like a rifle until you realize it has a little harpoon tip so I guess it’s a harpoon gun.

Where Zandar shines is in the fig itself. The tattoos, the crop top, the hair. He’s a bit drab below the waist until you notice all the buckles and gold bits. 

I put… too much work into this but once I got the idea I couldn’t stop myself. I wanted to  just take an old Calvin Klein print ad and strip out the model and replace it with Zandar, but I could not for the life of me find one that worked, so I just took some ideas from some of them and made one. And now I have Calvin Klein fonts installed on Affinity Photo that I will absolutely never use again. Probably.
