*Or most of it anyway.
OK. Time to look at most of the rest of the wave - Purple Gwen, Purple Hobie, and the standout of the line, Pavitr Prabhakar. Throw in Peter B. (no fuzzy robe and Mayday so I swapped out the first movie robe and Ms. Lion) and Spider-Man Noir / Spider-Ham and you’re… still missing a couple. Peni and SPI//DR, and at this point I’ll take either damn version, and Spider-Byte. They need to make a Spider-Byte. Hopefully for the third movie which will then introduce maybe more characters they won’t make.
Anyway, Spider-Punk and Gwen are as if they were lit up by purple light, which does happen a fair amount, and as part of the apology nature of the wave, Spider-Punk comes with TWO unmasked heads - one in the color scheme of the new figs and one in the color scheme of the original. Which is very kind of them except for the “buy the figure twice” part but they know and I know I’m a sucker.
But oh, that Pavitr. I was VERY tempted to buy the expensive import version that went up for pre-order before this was announced (Bandai? Mezxo?) but then they announce this and it was just fine with me. Sure, the web thing is just plastic and doesn’t do multiple poses, but otherwise it’s almost as good for about a quarter of the price. LOVE HIM.
The Gwen and Punk figures were good and I did want an even more updated Gwen than the one from the Stilt-Man wave, plus she came with LYLA who I also wanted, and the purple is damn striking.
For the pic - this actually was one shot, using green Lego pedestals to try to create the height differences. It worked for everyone except Peter B., who I had to carefully digitally lower in a way that still covered all the parts of Spider-Punk he covered initially.
I tried a more elaborate technique to create the red/blue multiverse shifting effect from the movie, with somewhat more success than with Scarlet Spider, but also still not great? Part of it is that it’s constantly moving so it’s tough to tell what it actually IS in the movie and part of it is my Fisher Price art skill.
