Gonna do that thing everyone does in the last week of the year and do a countdown of my fifteen favorite additions to the toy collection this year. This is a random mix of objective quality, love of the character, general emotional resonance, and collecting milestones. I’m also going to do my 15 favorite toy pics of the year. Three per day. Should just about take me to 2025. Let’s do 12, 11, and 10.
#12: Quick Kick (G.I. Joe Classified)
2024 was the year I got into G.I. Joe Classified in a big way, and early 2025 is looking to continue that trend. The biggest surprise was Quick Kick, a figure who looked plain on the pre-order picks, but who in real life proved to be a remarkably appealing mix of sculpt and especially character-specific accessories at the base price point. He’s just FUN.
#11: AEW Ringside Collectibles Exclusive FTW Champion Hook
I posted this one pretty recently so I’m not going to go into crazy detail, but this figure is so good I was tempted to get more of them when they went on deep deep sale in the past week even though I literally have zero need for extras. Just a perfect representation of Backstage Hook.

#10: NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mirage Comics Casey Jones (#2)
This one hits on a couple of levels. First, it’s a collection-starter. Here’s where I decided, yeah, I’m gonna start getting a subset of the NECA TMNT toys. And I did. Second, it’s a figure I resisted getting for a long time, but evey time I saw it, from preorders to multiple sightings on shelves, it called to me until I gave in.
There’s just something so striking about the line-art accents on this character. I’m making the deliberate decision to mix and match Cartoon Style and Mirage Style depending on the TMNT character and availability, and he works great. Plus, a ton of accessories.
