The theme continues!Did I need a modern comics Luke Cage? Not really. I have a classic-style Power Man. I have a Mike Colter TV show Luke Cage. This figure literally sits at the midpoint between those two. Bulkier and more comicsy like the Power Man, plain yellow shirt and jeans like the Netflix. Which is great I guess when I’m looking for the perfect Luke Cage for the occasion, but that doesn’t come up that often.
The Luke is fine, and I do appreciate the fists with the LUKE and CAGE knuckle dusters quite a bit, but this two-pack is all about the Iron Fist, because I ain’t gonna be buying a figure of the Netflix version. And yes, I checked, and yes, there is one, but it was an SDCC exclusive five-pack of the Defenders and it’s crazy expensive so NOT EVEN FOR COMEDY VALUE.
This Iron Fist isn’t QUITE my comics version, because my comics version was the old-school giant V to the waist, and this one is more of a tapering rectangle than a V. But it’s close enough, with the big collar, the mask, the ties, the chest tattoo, all the details. Plus he comes with a bazillion hands and two glowing fist effects.
Shown here fighting MODOK because MODOK precedes my picture-taking and I haven’t used him in anything yet. One shot, but it required a bunch of passes in post to get the lighting the way I wanted it, with the rocket exhaust and Iron Fist bright but then the top lighting and shadows from the background (from Marvel’s Avengers game, so that thing was finally useful for something).
And thats it for a while on two-packs where I want one figure more than the other. My terrifying preorder list doesn’t contain any, and I don’t expect one until/unless Hasbro drops another Spidey VHS set.
