Motherfuckin' Lucha Underground! (Ultima Lucha Dos, Part Two)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Look, I'm not gonna talk about the vignettes until the whole thing is over because, well, it's super-spoilery and super-awesome and super-sad. But damn.

So let's talk about the two matches tonight - Gift of the Gods and the Cuerno-Muertes Death Match.

The Gift of the Gods match was better than the last one, but not as good as the first one. Night Claw debuted, and eliminated several wrestlers, and looked... pretty good out there. I'm not sure what he brings to Lucha Underground that half a dozen other guys don't already have, but maybe we'll find out in Season 3.

Daga was more impressive than I've seen him to date. Killshot didn't get enough to do, and didn't get his revenge on Marty The Moth, because this wasn't Killshot's revenge on Marty, this was Sexy Star's.

In this match, we have a small and a large version of a thing that LU probably needs to address in Season 3. Matt Striker and Vampiro don't know shit they should know. Like the fact that Night Claw was the seventh wrestler in Gift of the Gods (which we saw in a vignette three weeks ago but was still called a Mystery Entrannt by the commentary team). They didn't know that Marty The Moth had kidnapped Sexy Star and tied her up in a basement beween Season One and Season Two. That gap has seriously affected the impact of Star's matches this season, and it takes a bit away from her otherwise inspiring and uplifting Gift of the Gods win, pinning Mariposa and Marty in succession to become the first woman to capture LU singles gold.

On to Cuerno-Mil. Mil is becoming a face, which is weird. It's a direct side effect of two things - the rize of Matanza as the official monster heel of the company, and The Temple crowd's accumulated respect for two seasons of solid in-ring work from him. This match was a bit slow, as most hardcore matches are, and some of the shifts in momentum were weird, but it all came together in the end where Mil kicked it into another gear after Cuerno threatened Catrina, powerbombed Cuerno through like four tables, one after the other, then hit him with a crowbar off the top rope, then hit him with a piledriver for the win. I have a feeling Cuerno will be selling this beating for at least the first third of Season 3.

And finally, the most MOTHERFUCKING LUCHA UNDERGROUND moment of the evening came when one of the commentators emptied a bottle of pills into a garbage can and walked away. If you know anything about Lucha Underground, you'll know what I'm talking about and how important it is, PSYCHOTIC BREAK DIVISION!
