I had missed out on the initial preorder of this Cobra Commander, and had settled for the Super7 version, but I really wanted one that fig in the Classified style and scale while looking very classic, and also, VAC-MATAL MASK. Come on.
The Trooper I got because it crossed my eyes after I’d been re-watching early episodes of the 80’s Joe cartoon and I realized I should have one in the collection.Again, a Classified style on a very classic design. Love the retro card series.
The Crimson B.A.T. is just neat - Cobra robot trooper in Crimson Guard colors, with interchangeable weapon hands, a backpack, and a swappable/removable chestplate and head to show varying degrees of battle damage.
But Quick Kick… Quick Kick is fucking GLORIOUS. In a way pre-order pics hinted at but did not reveal, hence my failure to pre-order. He’s got a bunch of hands, swords, nunchuks, a throwing star with a whoosh effect (see the B.A.T. chest above) and a friggin’ half-unwrapped candy bar as a reference to the cartoon. So he’s front and center. All of them have the Marvel Legends-esque range of articulation with the Classified-level sculpt and paint and the pile of accessories. Amaing what you can do for the price point when you own the property vs. licensing it.
Anyway, the villain to hero ratio was slightly off, so I pulled out the Snake Eyes and Timber two-pack, but it was still slightly off, so I also pulled out Tomax and Xamot so they could both get their throats chomped by Timber at the same time. Trooper gets a stab, B.A.T. gets a shuriken, and Cobra Commander gets kicked somewhat conveniently where gravity-induced stand-sag aimed Quick Kick’s foot.
This was one shot. Filled the small photo box to bursting and required careful positioning (which for me means guessing and taking a ton of shots at different angles to find one that works) to get everything visible.
