REDEFINING NEED II: DC Multiverse Adam West Batman

Did I need this either? Well, it’s complicated.Obviously, if you’ve been following my photos for any length of time, you know I have an extensive collection of the McFarlane Toys’ retro Batman ‘66 line. I have almost all of them except a few weird outliers, plus all the playsets and vehicles, plus two more figures and a vehicle on preorder.

So why did I buy an Adam West Batman who’s an inch taller and in a completely different style?

Well, I wasn’t gonna. When this figure went up for pre-order, I made a conscious decision to pass on it. I liked it, but again, incompatible with the rest of my Batman ‘66 toys so not worth pre-ordering.

And then I was in Wal-Mart picking up that Chainsaw Man figure (also of dubious necessity), and there he was on the shelf. Just staring at me. Daring me to buy him. Even more appealing in person than in the Internet preorder pictures. Also I was in a mood. So he came home with me.

As a straight up toy, there’s no denying its awesomeness. Full articulation (wel, by DC Multiverse standards, which means a little weak below the waist with slightly weird hips and no thigh or boot swivels), a wired cloth cape, a batarang, a bat-transmitter thingy, and BATUSI HANDS. So I had to do extensive Batusi research. Turns out the Batusi appears like seventeen minutes into the first episode, and also in a King Tut episode late in the first season, which is what I used for the pic.

So it’s an absolutely fantastic Adam West Batman toy - clearly the best one that’s ever been made. It’s just… superfluous to my collection. But what the hell. Need is relative.
