October Post-Pile Pile: Ghost Viper

 “I think there’s too much green. “It’s a motif!”OK, let’s start with the figure. The Ghost Viper. I know 2025 has blown value propositions into a million disparate shards, even within Hasbro, but the Ghost Viper is a figure that’s both too expensive and a good value.

By which I mean it costs more than a figure two-pack would have cost at the start of the year, and way more than a figure and animal pack used to cost, and also it comes with so much stuff, some of it very unique stuff, that you’re not mad at it.

The figure itself is I guess a modified TeleViper, who I don’t have, so in non-spooky mode he’s a dark-toned Cobra trooper with two heads, a bunch of hands, some generic weapons, writs consoles… a pretty typical loadout. But then there’s the Green Boy shit.

The Green Boys are what I’m calling what is currently a pair of connected toys that are turning into a bit of unique Classified lore. First there’s Crystal Ball, with a bunch of translucent green shit including an alternate moster head. Crystal Ball was an original Joe but i think the green stuff is unique to Classified.

And now there’s the Ghost Viper, who comes with: translucent green hands, translucent green large monster hands, TG wolf head, TG snake head, TG snake, half-TG wolf, a backpack with tanks of green, a green hose, and a gun that projects a TG smoke skull. Just a ton of stuff, most of it in translucent green plastic to be super extra cool.

There is (apparently) a lot of part re-use. The backpack comes from some other dude, the wolf is just a redone Timber, the guns are from other figures, etc. I even think the snake came from some earlier mold. But it’s a nifty little creation and everything connects nicely.

For the pic, this is one of those where I know I made it too busy in post but couldn’t stop myself. I’m happy with getting the green stuff mostly lit practically from behind / through, but it meant I did have to darken the parts of the figures that were accidentally lit as a result and also brighten the green parts the light couldn’t reach. I’ve also been experimenting with some new techniques for adding textures that I tried with the green fog and it both worked and needs work. 

I’ve added Dr. Mindbender as the creator/leader of the Green Boys on account of it making sense.
