FIG AND NEW OBSESSION: Vultak!

Research can be dangerous.I didn’t know who Vultak was. In fact, I spent about a week ignoring Mattel’s teases for him because they didn’t say Cartoon Collection and I only care about Cartoon Collection. But then I learned it was Cartoon Collection. Who is this purple bird dude, I wondered?

So I watched the She-Ra episode “Zoo Story”, and became a little obsessed. There’s a lot going on. It starts with Bo Bosplaining the difference between “vanished” and “disappeared” to Adora, with all the confidence of a white man who is definitely wrong. There’s some weirdly libertarian-coded philosophy. There’s Cowl possibly repopulating his species after finding Cowl But With Eyelashes who’s name he never asks but does start calling her Cowla. There’s She-Ra using FUCKING AQUAMAN POWERS TO TALK TO SNAPGATORS. And a bunch of other stuff, including these little shitbag trash can robots with arm tentacles.

So yeah, I ordered Vultak. I ate Mattel Creations shipping prices to get Hordak’s zookeeper slash animal procurer. And he may be my favorite Classic Collection figure yet Something about him just clicks. The wings, the paint, the whole vibe. Plus he comes with a little shitbag robot! I assumed, with the wings, there’d be no accessory, but not only is there one, it has paint hits, which is I think a first for an episode-specific accessory on a Cartoon Collection figure.

Anyway, Vultak steals animals, and so I thought it’d be funny to have him steal a couple big-ass horses. My only two horses. Mythic Legions Boreus and the DC Multiverse Dark Knight Returns Build-A-Horse. Guess they’re goin’ to the zoo to learn an important lesson about freedom.
