Any kid can be a meddling kid if he puts his mind to it.I am, as previously mentioned, a big Spidey guy. ANd the more I realized, through collecting, what a big Spidey guy I was, the more I wanted my Spidey collection to grow. Not enough to buy, say, a bunch of Gamerverse costume variants from the game, mind you, but any time a retro card wave comes out, I’m looking to expand my roster of classic villains, characters, and especially Animated Series and classic comic looks.
So I bought Spider-Boy!
OK. I bought Chameleon because he was the most important guy in this wave. Classic animated-style Chameleon, with some guns, some hands, and a pulled-off J. Jonah Jameson head. I would have preferred a swappable head or two, and I would have REALLY preferred both swappable and pulloff heads, but I’m not gonna complain too much. Solid Marvel Legends, up to current standards.
I probably wouldn’t have gotten Spider-Boy if it weren’t for that insane alternate head with the multiple gold eyes and the screaming fang mouth. Other than that he’s pretty basic - not even a full complement of standard Spidey hands, and then a backpack. But that head spoke to me. All I know about Spider-Boy is his basic, recent premise - a young side-kick of Peter Parker Spidey who got forgotten somehow bey everyone / the current reality and is now somehow back? Something like that. But man that face is hilarious.
For the pic, I will say that I am sick of Scooby Doo and I’m even sick of ironic takes on Scooby Doo and that applies across the board unless I’m the one doing it. So there.
Anyway, I ended up with four out of this wave, getting two on sale, and skipping Agent Venom and Kaine. I wouldn’t be opposed to an Agent Venom if I saw one for like half off, but he and Kaine are largely from an era of Spidey I’m uninterested in.
