The Punisher: “Danger Close” / “Home”

Weird-lookin’ dude.
OW ICK OW ICK OW ICK OW ICK OW ICK OW ICK OW ICK.

I’m not sure what’s in the final episode of The Punisher, but episodes 11 and 12 seemed to be the climax, with Micro reunited with his now doubly-traumatized family, Agent Orange being VERY VERY GRUESOMELY murdered by a near-death Frank, and Madani’s crew busted in, saved Frank, and presumably captured Billy. There’s not much left to explore, except where everyone goes from here.

We got one fight of Skull Shirt Frank, which is somewhat disappointing, given that we already got his origin story in Daredevil. But we did get some more Kill A Lot Of People Very Efficiently Frank, which is important for any show about THe Punisher. And we appear to have left the second worst gun control debate in superhero TV show history behind (Arrow, you’ll always be #1 in that regard).

Assuming this was the end of it, with just denouement on the agenda, it was a pretty solid show, even if it had nine episodes worth of actual story out of a total of 13. One of my favorite things, and something that was really obvious in the last couple of episodes, is how they made the Punisher an ugly, weird looking dude with at least four different haircuts over the years, all of them completely fucking awful. It’s a bold choice, and I’m a fan of it.
