Agents Of SHIELD: “Orientation, Parts 1 and 2”

I admit, he’s a bit of an off brand Star Lord/Han Solo, but still.
Agents of SHIELD opened its fifth season with a shot across the bow of every other superhero TV show out there. It was big, bold, and balls to the wall bugfuck from start to finish.

We ended last season with a teaser of Coulson, alone, in space. We all drew a bunch of conclusions and speculation from that, and we were all completely fucking wrong, and that’s awesome.

They’re not in space. Well, OK, they are in space, but they’re not in space space. They’re in the future, and they’re in space because the Earth got mostly blowed up reeeeeeeal good. They’re on a space station containing the last of the human race, subjugated by the Kree, pulled forward in time by some kind of plan and prophecy to save mankind.

I cannot stress enough how bold this setting is. There’s a TON of worldbuilding, a whole new cast of supporting characters, a  mystery that’s off the charts in terms of TV show scale. It’s the exact opposite of Inhumans. It’s smart, it’s funny, it’s well acted, it’s intense, and it looks expensive as hell.

I have no idea where they’re going with this, but I desperately want to see all of it.
