Weekly Wrasslin’ Wroundup (11/20-22)

Somehow, he’d never had one of these before.
When the most interesting thing to happen the week after a big PPV is six new additions to two women’s rosters, you know that’s wrestling. Plus, NXT was the usual post-Takeover collection of matches filmed at but not aired during Takeover, though admittedly Pete Dunne vs. Johnny Gargano was a fantastic match. Events Of Significance:

Roman Reigns, New Intercontinental Champion

This is the continued problem with having the belt on Brock. The IC belt becomes the only singles title on the show, so instead if it being a midcard thing for midcarders to fight over, it’s a consolation prize for top tier guys not getting a shot at the Universal Championship anytime soon. I mean, putting titles on all three Shield guys, fine, yay, whee, but who challenges Roman for the title and can reasonably defeat him? Apparently this all happened so The Miz could make The Marine 6 so it’s even more pointless.

Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose Debut and then Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan also debut.

They’re part of the faction of the returning Paige, and their thing seems to be they’re out for themselves and will beat up anyone they want, face or heel. Which is fine. Not sure why they went with Deville and Rose when there’s a perfectly mediocre Iconic Duo sitting around on NXT with compatible accents and good mic skills to pair with Paige, but whatever. Great to see Riot on Smackdown, although Morgan and Logan are also slightly odd choices for callups. The latter group also beat the shit out of both faces and heels on Smackdown, so who knows what’s going on.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn Are In Wrestling Trouble

See, Owens and Zayn “cost” Smackdown the match at Survivor Series by intervening briefly and attacking Shane McMahon. So they were gonna get fired but instead they got beat up in a lumberjack match for a while until the lumberjacks all attacked each other and they stole a win over the New Day.

What Are They Doing To Jason Jordan?

I cna’t figure it out, but I don’t like it.

Bludgeon Brothers Debut

Yawn. Even less interesting than they could have been.
