OK, I’m old enough to know ABOUT this, but not so old that it’s more than a secondhand reference, heh.Obviously, any pop culture touchstone involving four people is gonna be fair game, so for True Love, all I could think about was Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice, which is either about wife-swapping and/or group sex or, like many things at the time, was MARKETED as being about that when it was really just a bunch of hairy 70’s people sitting around and talking.
But the iconic image from the movie remains, and is appropriated thusly. And, as I learned a long time ago, “sitting/lying up against each other” is absolutely the toughest thing to get any action figure to do, because people squish.
So I spent a LOT of time doing restoration of that backboard where, for example, Ripper didn’t proberly obscure Elliott Gould’s hairy 70’s chest. Worth it?
