And to think I came very close to not getting this.
So, one of the runners in my trip to Japan was Yodobashi camera. In each sity we stayed in, the Yodobashi got closer and closer, until in Osaka it was literally part of the same block complex as our hotel.Yodobashi Camera is where I bought four of my five Japan toys. And in each one, I saw this Joker.
And, the day before we left, I went to YC and found… nothing I wanted. I’d already passed on this Joker twice, you see. Just didn’t give it a second thought. But I knew we were going to swing through one last time for gatchapon, so I looked up some best of lists to see if there’s anything I’d overlooked, and this Joker was on them. And then I watched a review and was sold. And got one the next morning.
And not only do I love it, this wasn’t even what I watched the review of, because this is the 1.5 re-release with even MORE accessories~ Look at what this motherfucker comes with.
Anyway, he’s great. He’s got a ton of personality and the Revoltech joints, while challenging to manage, really let you show off that personality. He can go serious/scary…
Or he can go more goofy, all while retaining that classic comic Joker look.
I used the McFarlane Detective Comics #1000 Batman, because the only other comic batman I have is Dark Knight Returns and you need at least a classic comic look.
He is, of course, being a Japanese action figure, fussy as fuuuuuck. Hands will pop off and on with impunity, which is fun because his orange cuffs are a separate piece that will indeed come off of their own free will if the hand isn’t there. The neck is a bottom piece on a ball, a top piece on a ball, and a bottom hair piece on a ball. Incredible articulation but swapping heads is… a challenge.
But, again, all of this is, ideally, a tradeoff for quality in areas Todd certainly won’t give you no matter how many thousand Joker figures he makes. You are rewarded for your hassle and you forget your frustration when you see the results. And again he was -considerably- cheaper than the US price point. Maybe my favorate grab of the whole trip.from a pure toy perspective, but Miles wins for toy + love of character.
