Well, that’s 2/3 of the holy trinity…This is the only fig I got in Japan that was on my Someday List. The Ver. A.N.I.M.E. Guncannon. Like the rest of my Robot Spirits Gundams between now and Tuessday, it’s from the original Mobile Suit Gundam from 1978, and it, along with Gundam The Gundam From Gundam and the Guntank, formed the entire good guy mobile suit arsenal for the vast majority of the series. There is a ver. A.N.I.M.E. Guntank on the way and I do want it but I don’t know if I’ll be able to justify the price. But the Guncannon was pretty cheap in the US and was even cheaper at Yodobashi Camera Kyoto.
It’s a bit less elaborate than either the GTGFG or Char’s Zaku. It’s got the usual spread of hands and hand tree, it’s got a couple of thruster effects, a couple of ass grenades, and two blast effects for the head cannons. It also has a beam rifle, but he’s not the GunHoldsAGun, he’s the Guncannon. So it’s not shown.
The effects pieces are two different lengths, which is an odd choice. I mean, it lets you simulate the barrels firing alternately, which happens a lot, but it DOESN’T let you simulate both barrels firing at the same time, which also happened a fair amount. Two of each would not have been difficult for them, and then you could do “short effects on the cannons, big effect on the beam rifle” if you wanted to go that route.
Articulation, as with the rest of the line, is smooth, stable, and fantastic. Notice how the arms can get up and hold the head cannons despite its relative bulk.
Oh, it also comes with number stickers, but I can’t find any evidence of it having a number on it in any of Gundam 0078, so it may be for some other show or medium. Just means I don’t have to fuck with stickers.
