Oh, look, it’s the main reason I got Thanos! This version of Psylocke is one of those weird things I have a pop culture connection to, and have for decades, despite knowing very little about the character or history. It was omnipresent during certain periods when I was paying attention to certain things. I even, back in the day, had a Toy Biz figure with a light-up psychic knife that plugged into her hand.
Plus I’m a sucker for an obvious and clear engineering upgrade, especially for women, who generally receive the short end of the stick when it comes to articulation.
Anyway, she has excellent articulation, hampered somewhat by the decision to go with Capcom style larger thighs. She comes with two heads, some hands, and a ton of effects pieces, including a psychic knife, the curved attack pieces shown above, and the butterfly face thing which only works with the alternate head and even there it’s DICEY.
Also they did that thing where the neck is thinner and softer than usual so if you pop the head off the dumbbell neck joint comes with it. In the past Hasbro has put a second dumbbell joint in the alternate head for figures like this, but not Psylocke, so pliers had to be employed to switch heads, which is one of the things that delayed this pic.
This pic also features the first major upgrade to my Universal Stage, properly blanked out character portrait frames and an alternate document featuring all the other character portraits that I can just pick out and drop in. Next up is an adjustable hit counter graphic - this is just a straight cut and paste from the move that involves the effect pieces but I’ll have all the digits as separate pieces in a few days.
Then the timer numbers, then I can look at the “New Hero” text to make replaceable.
