COBRA ruLES THE SKIES!
Again, when it comes to GI Joe Classified, I’m here for weird, I’m here for tech, and I’m especially here for weird teck. A jet-powered hangglider? Don’t mind if I do!
On the upside, it’s big, it’s bold, and it has LOTS of things to move and pose. Jour langing gear that tuck away, two back rudders and two side rudders that pivot, two missiles that detach, and a top-mounted cannon that swivels and elevates.
AND it comes with a pilot, and the pilot is a woman, and the pilot has a stand and some guns and three heads in total and a helmet top that you can swap between them. Does the helmet do the same fall off all the time thing that the helmet on the Retro Cobra Trooper does? Yes it does, because it’s that same helmet but in red, held on by Not Enough Friction. But that’s OK.
Speaking of not staying attached, there’s also a pair of very nice jet blast effects that plug into the engines, but they’re reused effects pieces from applications that required smaller, more shallower holes, so while these could have been engineered to plug into securely, they’re not. It’s not awful - they won’t fall out if you look at ‘em funny but they WILL fall out if you nudge them.
A couple things about the pick FUCK WINDSHIELDS. I’ve mostly learned how to adjust for them but when you do compositing nothing is worse than clear plastic with details. So that’s why I don’t do more with the Trubble Bubble because cleaning this up suuuuuucked.
Also I pulled out my old(er) Super7 Ultimates Cobra Commander for this because, as much as I love the Classified retro card CC with the vac-metal mask, the combination of the cape and the flat, matte look is just what this pic needed.
