I told myself I couldn’t. I told myself I shouldn’t. I did it anyway.So in 2026 I’m trying, to varying degrees of success, to be mindful of space. Even if a thing is a good deal (say, recently the Marvel Legends Ulik went super-cheap), overall usefulness vs. amount of space it takes up vs. how much I love it is a much bigger factor for me this year.
And this is one of the biggest faux arcade cabinets GalacticBasic makes. Did I dare? Well, here’s the deal. I’d put two in my cart, and was trying to decide on a third, and in the process I got a coupon from him, so there was DEFINITELY gonna be a third, and as I looked through all the offerings, there was nothing I wanted more in the collection than the two-screen, six-player X-Men cabinet. It’s fuckin’ iconic. And I want to bend the arcade collection towards instantly recognizable cabinet shapes now that they’re available.
You can also see the first tweak I’ve made to the digital arcade - lightening up the filter on Time Traveler so it doesn’t look so grey compared to everything else. Next on the list is fixing the ceiling which I clearly freehanded.
Yes, all four X-Men are playing in the correct spots. I do have a Storm (no comic Colossus and movie would have blocked the cabinet too much) but she’s going in a different pic soon.
