Weekly Wrasslin’ Wroundup (Jan 29-31)

What’s your name again?
As post Royal Rumble weeks go, this was a pretty slow week, but there were still a couple Events Of Significance.

DRAKE MAVERICK.

I knew WWE was going to fuckbotch the 205 Live General Manager situation, but I thought it’d be by using an inappropriate legend like Goldust. Instead, they brought in TNA’s Rockstar Spud. Which is fine. I like Spud and he actually did a really good job being an entertaining GM. But first, very few people know who the fuck Rockstar Spud is. And second, you can’t have a General Manager named Rockstar Spud, so they changed his name. To DRAKE MAVERICK. And then they did that thing WWE does with any big name change and have everyone say “DRAKE MAVERICK” as many times as possible, and it’s an awful name.  Sigh.

ELIMINATION CHAMBERS

Raw’s next PPV is Elimination Chamber, and will feature both a men’s and a women’s match. The men’s match featured qualifying matches for two or three people who don’t matter because they’re going to lose to Roman Reigns because the winner faces Brock Lesnar at Mania and Roman Reigns is going to beat Lesnar at Mania. The women’s match will be for the title, and I don’t know how it’ll turn out because of the next thing.

WE STILL DON’T KNOW WHO ASUKA IS GOING TO CHALLENGE

It might be an accident, but more likely it’s because they’re putting off her announcement so it’ll be a surprise whenshe challenges Charlotte and I guess moves to Smackdown when she wins or have Charlotte be the streakbreaker? Anyway, as long as they keep Asuka away from the Rousey bullshit I’ll be happy.

RUSEV VS. ROODE

Rusev won the IC title shot against Roode on Smackdown, setting up another of those WWE matches that neither guy should lose. I desperately need them to capitalize on Rusev’s incredible personality, though. So anything is better than nothing.
