This Splinter from NECA was surprisingly tiny. Not bad, but a bit smaller than I was expecting. I’m sure it’s an appropriate scale, I’ve just never been that clear on Splinter’s actual scale, and I think he’s bigger in the cartoons. But he does come with a LOT of stuff to make up for it.
The figure itself is well sculpted and painted, with a nice cloth robe. The articulation is… OK. Articulation isn’t NECA’s priority and small figure articulation always suffers, but it’s serviceable. He comes with a staff, a couple of extra hands, a tea pot, a tea cup, one of those little Foot Clan robot things, one of those little aliens, and, most importantly, a pre-goo version of four turtles and Splinter along with the goo.
This led to the pic above, where I did two shots, two backgrounds, and merged them - all TMNT I’ve seen has Splinter explaining the origin story at one point or another. I threw in some light shading to match the lighting in the background some, and boom. Happy with the result.
Now I mainly need a Shredder and an April, and a new cartoon Shredder was announced at Comic-Con, so I’ll be able to knock that out at some point.
