Blog-exclusive content: this pic has a bit of a mean-spirited motivation. The toy pic community on Blusky has a LOT of Transformers content. It’s like at least half Transformers and Transformers are, visually speaking, messy little bitches that are tough to photograph well because of all the transforming bits hanging off them willy nilly.
Also most Transformers fans, like most fans of most 80’s cartoons, take the world more seriously than the source material perhaps deserves. And nothing is hit on more often than the admittedly iconic “One shall stand, and one shall fall” confrontation between Optimus Prime and Megatron in Transfomres: The Movie.
So, for maybe the past… nine months? This idea of reinterpreting both “stand” and “fall” has been rattling around in the back of my brain, with these two specific misinterpretations. I just never did it. Never had the inclination and the time at the same point.
Also, now, in 2026, I could knock this out in one evening - dig out the ORGANIC BANANAS from the Self-Checkout, pose everyone up, take three pics, foreground the front of the booth and the leaf pile, find a bunch of individual leaves to bring in and have Megatron throw, make the text, drop the text in, adjust lighting, give Bumblebee a shadow. I don’t want to say “effortless” but it’s all stuff that’s well established in the skill set right now. So there was no fuckaroundery, just boom get it done.
