An Oldnerd Did Watch Takeover Wargames 2 Last Month

The Dream is and is not over.
This was a very good show, and it’s a shame Survivor Series’ pee moment and the pee moments that have followed have really tamped down my interest in giving a shit about any wrestling that doesn’t have Becky Lynch in it. Oh, and Matt Riddle one-hit-killed Kassius Ohno in an impromptu match, for the record.

Aleister Black vs. Johnny Gargano: Gargano wins.

I picked Gargano because I didn’t know where Gargano could go if he lost. In that sense, I was right, because it’s been two weeks since Gargano lost and nobody has any idea where he’s going because he hasn’t appeared or wrestled since. Match was very good, although you could kind of extrapolate the whole thing from the last few matches from both guys. (0/1)

Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler (Women’s Championship): I’m gonna say Baszler retains.

ANd I was right. Post-match stuff from the MMA Horseladies and Dakota Kai and Io Shirai are setting up some future six person stuff, but it seems like they’re going to keep going with Baszler/Sane for at least another couple months. (1/2)

Tomato Champs vs. Velveteen Dream (Men’s Championship): Ciampa retains.

Another great match from both guys and the right guy won, not only because it was the guy I picked. Dream’s coronation is going to happen, and it’s going to be fucking epic. (2/3)

The Undisputed Era vs. The War Raiders, Ricochet, and Pete Dunne (WarGames): I’ll give this one to the faces.

This was, as predicted, a glorious mess. Lots of fun spots, not much of a story beyond some ridiculous business with Pete Dunne getting locked in his pre-match cell for a bit. This match was also insanely long, to the point where it was tough to maintain interest during the whole thing. (3/4)
