Oh, The Metahumanity! (Jan 10)

JJ Abrams consulted on this Bad Robot.
AND WE'RE BACK. Sort of. Agents of SHIELD is back, at least, which means Oh, The Metahumanity is back. The CW shows should be back in a couple of weeks, and I'm definitely going to be checking out Powerless in February, because Ron Funches. Anyway, ROBOTS.

Agents Of SHIELD: "Broken Promises" (5% Stupid)

OK, I admit I'm a bit disappointed that Radcliffe turned out to be Evil All Along. I mean, his shift from Pretty Fucking Evil to Weird Member Of The Team was admittedly abrupt, but with Fitz and Simmons being more agency and less labnerdy, I thought Radcliffe made a fun replacement in that ecological niche.

But beyond that, a solid, somewhat traditional Agents of SHIELD premiere (or semi-premiere), moving pieces around and establishing the new status quo going forward. May is a robot, Ada and Radcliffe are trying to steal the Darkhold, the Senator is in cahoots with the Watchdogs and thinks she successfully murdered her Inhuman bother, but his corpse recocooned when it dropped into the ocean. Fair enough. What elevated this episode and earned back five percentage points from the 10 I was gonna allot for the Radcliffe thing was Mack and Yoyo spending the entire episode being incredibly right and sensible about evil robots based on an extensive list of 80's robot movie references. That was purest awesome.
